Mother and Son, Dead in Fire

On Thursday, March 2nd 2017, at 05.37, the military firefighters with „General Magheru” Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Vâlcea county were called to intervene in the putting out of a fire burning a dwelling in Muereasca locality.

Until they managed to put it out, there burnt: the house, built from wood with shingle casement, over a surface of approx. 72 square meters; an annex (workshop) of approx. 24 square meters. At the neighbor’s, there burnt: the roof of an annex (a fodder storage), built from wood, approx. 72 square meters, and the roof of the house, built from wood with shingle casement, approx. 10 square meters.

Unfortunately, the owners, aged 50 (son) and 86 (mother) were found dead. The SMURD team intervention was necessary to carry out the first aid procedure in a case of panic attack of the owner of the neighboring annex. The probable cause, as established by the preliminary investigation, seemed to have been the fall of the embers from the heating system onto the wood.
